February 2019 - Kilbeggan Distillery

The Waterford Whiskey Society were delighted to hold our February whiskey tasting in Davy Macs. We had many of our new members in attendance as well as some very welcome newcomers in the cosy room upstairs in Davy Macs where Stephen Magennis from the Kilbeggan Distillery presented us with 6 excellent whiskeys - two from the Kilbeggan Range, two from the Connemara Range and two from the Tyrconnell Range. He described for us the correct way to taste peated whiskeys. Not only did he talk us through the tasting of these whiskeys but the history of the oldest whiskey distillery in Ireland. The favorites of the evening were Tyrconnell 16 year old first place and the Connemara 12 year old second place. We raffled off two bottles of Connemara Original and ended the night with some tasty food supplied by Alan in Davy Macs. A great relaxing night was had by all and we look forward to seeing you at the next tasting.
